In the first place, we are very grateful to the chinese people - and there are many of
them - who were so helpful to make our trip a success. Some day, somewhere, we have read:
China, you hate it or you love it and this is actually true. Anyhow, if possible, we hope
to return to explore new regions and to meet again our newmade friends. Things to
remember:
- we used several trains 40 hours, several sleeperbuses 20 hours...and we were never
embarrassed through smoking or splashing meals. F.i. on one of these hardsleepertrains, a
policeman started smoking his cigarette...however, Griet pointed to the sign that smoking
was prohibited. The PSB man laughed, opened our window and threw his cigarette through it.

..
- In Lijiang, we showed our busticket to a passenger, she smiled and confirmed that this
was our bus. A few days later, we met her in Dali with her husband and she pulled us to
the guesthouse, where she was staying. Conversation was impossible, but we got a nice cup
of tea, took pictures, exchanged adresses - impossible to read for us. But being home
again in Belgium, we received a nice present to remember China and regularly emails from
her family. Hoping to meet them again in the beautiful province of Xishuangbanna, where
they live. See pictures below.
.
In Datong: we liked to make some videofilm about the daylylife of the
chineses. As a rule, we always ask pemission to do so and on the market, the people
refused. However along the street, 2 women were repairing shoes and we asked if we could
film - a man made a sign, we could. Lateron, when crossing a street to change checks
in a bank, a woman with a bike, suddenly pulled on my camera. Being in the bank with her,
the employees explained, that the woman wanted to have the pictures removed. It was
apparently her, who repaired the shoes. We whiped out everything with some difficulties,
but again on the street, she was hanging on me again and wanted money. Then, we got upset
ourselves, called a taxi and disappeared to the main branch of this bank, leaving this
woman behind with her bike. Afterall, this was the only problem of this kind we had in
China.
